Resources on expanding and diversifying the educator workforce

Resource Library for Expanding and Diversifying the Educator Workforce

A collection of resources for education leaders to improve the recruitment, preparation and retention of educators from diverse backgrounds.

Research consistently shows that all students—particularly students of color—benefit significantly from having at least one teacher of color during their educational journey. Despite this, the recruitment and retention of diverse educators remain persistent challenges for State Education Agencies (SEAs) and Local Education Agencies (LEAs).

In response to SEA and LEA requests, the Region 4 Comprehensive Center has meticulously gathered evidence-based resources to bolster efforts aimed at broadening and enriching the educator workforce. These resources have been primarily sourced from federally-funded centers such as the Comprehensive Center Network Resource Library and the Regional Education Laboratories (RELs) as well as relevant professional associations. For more information about our selection process, please visit our Methodology page.

These curated resources are organized to match the audience, the specific educator pathway stage, and the development stage of an initiative, whether it is conceptualizing one from scratch or sustaining an existing one. To ensure you find the most relevant materials, resources can be filtered by special areas of interest. Select the following terms to filter the resources to fit your needs. Choosing terms from multiple categories will refine the search results, presenting a more targeted collection of resources.
